Things to know before you arrive:

Sleekburn Water is not a lifeguarded site.

If you are new to open water activities we can signpost you to the relevant lifeguarded, coached, introductory sessions held at Sleekburn Water.

Terms and Conditions

Definition of terms outlined in all documents provided by Sleekburn Water to the Customer.
1.1 Us/we refers to Sleekburn Water the venue.
1.2 You/visitors/customers/swimmers/water users refers to the Customer.
1.3 The Customer refers to anyone who purchases and/or uses a ticket to access the water and therefore agrees to the Terms and Conditions and Rules and Regulations at Sleekburn Water.
1.4 Ticket/session/slot/booking/visit all refer to above mentioned access to the water of which a charge is incurred.
1.5 Lake and lakeside refers to the venue as a whole including the body of water used for swimming and aqua sports and the banks of which surround it.
1.6 Sleekburn Water reserve the rights to update and alter these Term and Conditions to remain in compliance with all of our policies and for protection of the customer.
2. Access agreement
2.1 All customers must have a ticket to enter the site and in doing so, agrees to the rules and regulations outlined by Sleekburn Water and to the Terms and Conditions.
2.2 All customers are required to observe these Terms and Conditions, purchase of ticket is confirmation they have read and understand the rules and regulations and are bound to this and the Terms and Conditions.
2.3 All customers ensure that they understand the dangers and risks of open water swimming and other aqua sports. This applies to all water users and independent coaches accessing the water and therefore binds in agreement a duty of the customers to take all reasonable precautions to ensure their own safety as well as other water users.
2.4 All customers should understand that medical assurance is required from their own medical practitioner, if they wish to access the water and they have a preexisting health condition that would deem them unfit to do so.
3. Purchase of ticket
3.1 Booking a ticket means that the customer has understood and agreed that they are responsible for themselves and accept liability for any loss, damage or injury to themselves or their property while at the lake and lakeside.
3.2 Sleekburn Water reserves the rights to reject a booking if deemed to be in the safety of the customer or other water users.
3.3 Payment for a ticket must be complete before receipt of session.
3.4 Cancelled sessions are non-refundable but are able to be date transferred if requested 72 hours prior to the ORIGINAL booking date and time.
3.5 If, for unforeseen circumstances the lake is closed, any rightfully purchased bookings will be rescheduled at the customers convenience, within the allocated swim times and opening times of Sleekburn Water.
3.6 Customers must behave in accordance with any written or verbal instruction by Sleekburn Water and disregard of this will result in cancelation of ticket(s) and/or removal from the site with no right to be refunded.
3.7 Customers must state the reason for accessing the water; for example, swim, SUP or external provider lead session for the records of Sleekburn Water.
4. Personal Safety
4.1 To ensure the safety of the customer, they must read and agree to all rules and regulations outlined by Sleekburn Water.
4.2 As an outdoor venue, the lake is subject to variable temperatures, weather conditions and natural hazards. It is the responsibility of the customer to adhere to the rules and regulations and advice given by Sleekburn Water with regards to altering/managing swim times, observing and managing temperatures in cold weather, adverse weather conditions and potential venue closures due to the above.
4.3 Inexperienced visitors will be signposted to an appropriate and qualified coach and are then able to book with us through the relevant supervision, guidance, and assurance of said coach. This must be a discussion, and all in agreement, with aforementioned parties. Customers are to understand this does not grant ‘instant access’ to the water and would be a process of learning with a qualified coach.
4.4 We do not advise that anybody should swim alone and that all customers should swim with a partner using ‘the buddy system’ as stated in the rules and regulations of Sleekburn Water. Of which all customers will understand and agree to prior to booking.
4.5 Sleekburn Water will display daily accurate water temperatures on the board.
4.6 Sleekburn Water will regularly test water quality and the Customer will understand water quality due to weather conditions and other contributing variables may affect ability to open to water users.
4.7 Photography is permitted at the lake and the customer does so with the understanding they are not to take photographs of other water users.
4.8 The customer agrees to Sleekburn Water taking photographs of sessions to use as advertising and promotional material. If the customer wishes to be exempt for this term then they are to request an exemption form from Sleekburn Water to be kept on file.
4.9 Sleekburn Water promises to store photographs and customer details in accordance with current GDPR policies.
5. Feedback and Complaints agreement.
5.1 Although every effort is made by Sleekburn Water to provide the customer with a satisfactory experience, we appreciate feedback from customers who feel their visit would benefit from additional or alternative facilities/provisions.
